In Hong Kong, ten students have achieved perfect scores in university entrance exams, with 94% passing the new citizenship and social development (CS) core subject. This core subject was introduced after the 2019 social unrest to emphasize patriotism. The Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority announced that 18,314 day-school candidates met the general entrance requirements for public universities, up from last year.
The top-performing students were among 49,000 candidates who took the exams. Eight male and two female students scored perfect grades on the new core subject. The syllabus focuses on national security, identity, lawfulness, and patriotism, replacing the previous liberal studies curriculum.
94.1% of candidates achieved the “attained” grade in CS, higher than the previous liberal studies results. A total of 18,392 candidates met the minimum requirements for university admission. Overall, the results reflect the success and dedication of students amidst changing educational standards in Hong Kong.
