Setting up AU Bank offers Africa only debt, no losses

Dealing with alcoholism in rural communities can involve unique and sometimes extreme methods, like administering bladder contents to the afflicted. Similarly, forgiveness of debts for Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPCs) often led to a lack of financial discipline and a cycle of increased indebtedness.

African countries must be cautious not to fall into the same trap when it comes to external debt, which currently stands at $1.2 trillion. The African Union could play a vital role in preventing relapses into financial mismanagement and corruption.

By surrendering some economic powers to the AU, member states could work towards a more harmonized approach to debt management and resource utilization. Implementing stringent loan vetting processes and centralized control over natural resources could safeguard the continent from exploitative practices.

Ultimately, Africa has the potential to leverage its vast resources for sustainable development, but it requires collective action and strong governance structures to prevent a resurgence of debt dependency.
