Russian President Vladimir Putin has no intention of contacting or communicating with Donald Trump after the recent assassination attempt on the former US president, as confirmed by the Kremlin on Monday. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov emphasized that there have been no contacts made with Trump and no plans for future communication.
Peskov also stated that Russian authorities strongly condemn the violent attack and oppose any form of violence in politics. The incident occurred during a rally in Pennsylvania where the culprit, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was shot and killed by the Secret Service.
Regarding security measures for Putin in light of recent events, including the assassination attempt on Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, Peskov assured that security has been heightened regardless of specific incidents. He emphasized that the security of the head of the state is paramount, especially given the global rise in tension.
In response to reports about Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s proposals to resolve the Ukrainian conflict, Peskov mentioned that while they are aware of Orban’s general approaches, they are not privy to the specifics of his letter to EU leaders. Orban’s recent visits to Kyiv and Moscow were aimed at understanding the perspectives of the conflicting parties to aid in ending the ongoing war in Ukraine.
