Kedarnath priests resist building replica temple in Delhi

In a protest against the construction of a temple in Delhi resembling the Kedarnath temple in Uttarakhand, seers and priests of Kedarnath have launched an agitation in Rudraprayag. This stir, now in its third day, saw demonstrations in Kedarnath denouncing the temple’s replica in Delhi.

Voices opposing the temple’s construction in Delhi were raised, with claims of disrespect towards the revered Kedarnath Dham by the seers. Swami Darshan Bharti urged believers to thwart the project, seeing it as a conspiracy against Hindu beliefs.

State officials clarified that the government had no involvement in the Delhi temple’s construction. The Chairman of the Badrinath-Kedarnath temple committee revealed that it was being carried out by the Kedarnath Trust without any financial support from the state.

While the Uttarakhand Chief Minister attended the groundbreaking ceremony, it was on the basis of a religious invitation rather than governmental endorsement, emphasizing the religious nature of the event.
