Huawei unveils .4B Shanghai campus with 100 cafes to attract global talent

Huawei unveils its new Lianqiu Lake R&D Centre in Jinze, Shanghai, featuring a stunning campus spread across 160 hectares. The complex consists of eight blocks and 104 buildings connected by an internal railway system. Despite some ongoing construction projects, the campus is set to start operations this year, serving as Huawei’s global R&D hub.

With a focus on semiconductors, wireless networks, and the Internet of Things, the campus aims to attract top talent, including foreigners. Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei envisions a vibrant atmosphere with over 100 cafes to entice young professionals from around the world.

Despite US restrictions on Chinese tech companies, Huawei remains resilient, investing heavily in R&D initiatives. The company allocated 23% of its total revenue towards research and development, involving over 114,000 employees in innovative projects.

The new campus symbolizes Huawei’s commitment to technological advancement and overcoming challenges through innovation.
