What is dengue?
Dengue, also known as break-bone fever, can range from mild symptoms to severe illness. The infection is spread by the Aedes mosquito, thriving in warmer climates and standing water. The virus causes fever, chills, and in severe cases, dangerous bleeding and organ failure.
Why are cases increasing?
Mosquito population growth, fueled by climate change, contributes to the spread of dengue. Cyclical outbreaks caused by different virus types reduce immunity over time, leading to increased infections.
