BP aims to boost oil reserves in Azerbaijan (Exclusive interview)

Unlocking the Future of Azerbaijan’s Energy Sector: In a recent interview, bp’s Vice President for the Caspian region, Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli, shared insights on the company’s focus on maximizing recoverable reserves at Azerbaijan’s Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) and Shah Deniz fields, while also reducing greenhouse gas emissions. As part of its commitment, bp is utilizing innovative technologies to enhance oil and gas production in the Caspian region.

Highlighting key initiatives, Aslanbayli emphasized the importance of the $370 million 4D seismic program at ACG and the successful launch of the Azeri Central East (ACE) platform, which is expected to reach peak oil production of 100,000 barrels per day in the coming years. Additionally, plans for gas extraction from the ACE block and the construction of a compressor platform at the Shah Deniz field are underway to optimize gas sales and extend production stability.

Furthermore, bp’s environmental initiatives, such as the 240 MW solar power project in Jabrayil, aim to reduce emissions and enhance energy transition in Azerbaijan. Collaborations with SOCAR and governmental entities further underscore bp’s commitment to sustainability and innovation in the region’s energy sector.
