Kaduna journalists released without ransom paid

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, expressed his delight at the release of two Kaduna-based journalists who were abducted in their homes last weekend. The journalists, AbdulGafar Alabelewe of The Nation Newspapers, his wife, and two children, along with AbdulRaheem Aodu of Blueprint Newspapers, were successfully rescued.

Idris commended the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and security agencies for their prompt actions in recovering the victims. He emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring the safe return of all kidnapped individuals without succumbing to ransom demands.

The NSA confirmed that the five victims were rescued through a collaborative effort of security agencies, leading to a swift search and rescue operation. One of the journalists, Alabelewe, expressed his gratitude towards the government for their swift intervention and the hope it instilled in them.

The successful rescue mission not only reunited the victims with their families but also highlighted the government’s dedication to combating the issue of kidnapping in the country. The Minister urged Nigerians to have faith in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and the security agencies working tirelessly to ensure the safety of all citizens.
