Justice awareness campaign launches in N. Bahr el-Ghazal

In a bid to raise awareness about transitional justice, a campaign has been launched in Northern Bahr el-Ghazal. Organized by the state Legal Administration and the South Sudan Law Society (SSLS), the initiative aims to educate the public on transitional justice mechanisms outlined in the Revitalized Peace Agreement.

Key components of the peace agreement involve the establishment of the Commission for Truth, Healing and Reconciliation (CTHR), the Hybrid Court of South Sudan (HCSS), and the Compensation and Repatriation Authority (CRA) to ensure proper compensation and support for those affected by the conflict.

During the awareness drive, activities will be conducted across multiple counties and municipalities in Northern Bahr el-Ghazal. Topics covered include the South Sudan Constitution, self-appreciation, and understanding the Revitalized Peace Agreement.

Participants, such as Achol Santo Tong, expressed their enthusiasm for the training session focused on peacebuilding and the promotion of law and order. Key takeaways from the event included the roles and responsibilities of the South Sudan National Police Service (SSNPS), the National Security (NS), and the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces in maintaining security.

Funded by UNDP and implemented by SSLS and other organizations, the campaign aims to empower the community with knowledge about transitional justice and promote peacebuilding efforts in the region.
