29th Anniversary of Srebrenica Genocide Marked in Saint Louis

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, recently attended the 29th-anniversary commemoration of the Srebrenica genocide in Saint Louis. Konaković emphasized the importance of educating future generations about the atrocities that occurred on July 11, 1995, in Srebrenica and other parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He called for the adoption of a resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica by the UN General Assembly, despite resistance from Serbia and others. Konaković stressed the need for countries worldwide to include this history in educational programs to acknowledge the thousands who lost their lives in the genocide.

American congresswoman Cori Bush also spoke at the event, highlighting the importance of remembering the victims and standing against genocide and ethnic cleansing. The president of the Association of Survivors of the Srebrenica Genocide, Mirsad Salihović, and imam Selvir Mujanović also shared their thoughts during the commemoration.

The event featured performances honoring the memory of the Srebrenica victims, showcasing solidarity and remembrance within the Bosnian community in Saint Louis.
