UK lawmakers push new FM Lammy on Gaza truce, Israel penalties

In a powerful display of solidarity with the Palestinian people, Jeremy Corbyn MP addressed demonstrators at a rally in Whitehall on the 76th anniversary of Nakba in London. This event was held to demand an immediate ceasefire to end the war on Gaza.

Following this rally, five newly elected independent UK MPs took a bold step by jointly writing a letter to the new Foreign Secretary David Lammy. In this letter, they urged the government to recognize a Palestinian state and impose sanctions on Israel over its war on Gaza.

The MPs emphasized the catastrophic situation in Gaza and called for the suspension of arms sales to Israel and sanctions against those inciting genocide against Palestinians. They also recommended broader sanctions against Israel and advocated for a ceasefire and the deployment of a peacekeeping force in Gaza.

This group of MPs, backed by The Muslim Vote campaign group, aims to keep Palestine on the agenda in parliament and press for crucial actions to alleviate the dire situation in Gaza.
