The Nigeria Governors’ Forum has expressed deep sorrow and extended heartfelt condolences to the families affected by the tragic school building collapse in Plateau State. The collapse at Saint Academy in Jos has resulted in 22 deaths and 154 injuries, with 74 victims already discharged from medical care.
Following the incident, the Plateau State Governor has ordered the immediate closure of the school to ensure the safety of other students and allow a thorough investigation. NGF Chairman AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq emphasized the importance of school safety in Nigeria, urging state governments to address any deficiencies promptly.
In a statement, the NGF praised the swift response of rescue teams and the state government’s efforts in managing the crisis. The forum stands in solidarity with Plateau State, offering support to mitigate the impact of the tragedy and prevent future occurrences, emphasizing the paramount importance of school safety.
