Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi Acquitted in Iddat Case, Arrested in New Toshakhana Case

A ray of hope for former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi was dimmed on Saturday as the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested them in a fresh Toshakhana case shortly after their acquittal in the Iddat case by an Islamabad court.

While talking to Dawn.com, NAB Deputy Director Mohsin Haroon confirmed the arrest of Imran and Bushra Bibi in the new Toshakhana case, clearing the last legal hurdle keeping Imran Khan detained.

Despite the acquittal in the Iddat case, the release of the couple from Adiala Jail was not confirmed as NAB brought forward a new case against them. The court suspended their sentences in the two Toshakhana cases, adding to a list of acquittals in various other cases filed against Imran Khan since May 9, 2023.

The legal journey of Imran Khan has seen ups and downs, with recent bail approvals and dismissal of pre-arrest bail petitions. However, the release of the couple is still uncertain as NAB continues to pursue them in a new Toshakhana case.
