Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi’s Legal Journey

Imran Khan’s hopes of release from prison were dashed as the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) arrested him and his spouse, Bushra Bibi, in a new Toshakhana case, just hours after being acquitted in an Islamabad court in the Iddat case. NAB confirmed the arrests, adding that details of the case are yet to be disclosed.

Post their acquittal from the Iddat case by an Islamabad court, Imran’s sentences in two Toshakhana cases were suspended, and he was cleared in the cipher case by the Islamabad High Court. This marks the end of all legal cases keeping the PTI founder behind bars.

Today’s hearing saw Maneka’s lawyer claiming Imran was shifting blame to Bushra Bibi in the Iddat case, while Imran’s counsel argued that even if there were legal defects, the marriage couldn’t be termed fraudulent. The court reserved the verdict.

The legal road for Imran and Bushra Bibi has been tumultuous, with the judiciary now acquitting them of the charge. PTI leaders hailed the verdict as a victory for truth and independent judiciary, marking a turn for the better for Pakistan.
