Senior Hamas official Hussam Badran recently commented on the ongoing negotiations between Israel and Hamas, mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States. Badran proposed the establishment of a non-partisan national competency government to govern Gaza and the West Bank post-war.

Emphasizing that the administration of Gaza is a Palestinian internal matter, Badran stated that Hamas would not involve foreign parties in discussions regarding the post-war administration. Israel’s demand to retain control of the Philadelphi corridor at Gaza’s border with Egypt was met with opposition from Hamas, which insists on Israel’s complete withdrawal from Gaza following a ceasefire.

The conflict, which began on October 7, has resulted in significant casualties and widespread devastation in Palestinian territories. With nearly 38,350 lives lost, mainly women and children, and severe humanitarian crises due to the blockade, the situation remains dire.

As negotiations continue, the future of Gaza and the West Bank remains uncertain, with both parties striving for a resolution amidst escalating tensions.
