CCR Group loses contract for São Paulo Monorail

The São Paulo government has announced the termination of CCR Group’s concession for Line 15-Silver, a major transportation route linking to Line 2-Green. Despite the cancellation, the Metro will continue normal operations, with a new bidding process on the horizon.

Originally planned in 2009 with 18 stations spanning 26.6 kilometers, Line 15-Silver has faced numerous delays, with only 11 stations operational along 11.6 kilometers as of now. Recent plans for extension and addition of new stations have been approved for completion by 2025.

Since its launch in 2015, Line 15-Silver has been plagued by various operational challenges, including concrete cracks, collisions, and mechanical failures. Despite these setbacks, CCR Group has not contested the contract termination and remains open to new opportunities.

Although CCR Group operates other major transport lines in São Paulo, the Metro has assured that services on Line 15-Silver will proceed without interruption. The decision to terminate the concession aims to address management failures and ensure the safety and efficiency of the transportation system.
