The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) reported two injuries from a building collapse at the Ekiti State orientation camp in Ise-Orun, Emure Ekiti. The injured individuals are stable and receiving medical treatment. The NYSC Director of Information and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, provided an update on the incident and reassured the public that the situation is under control.
The State Coordinator and camp officials effectively responded to the incident, ensuring the injured Corps Members received prompt medical attention. The NYSC Director General, Brig Gen YD Ahmed, expressed shock over the collapse and urged the state government to prioritize the safety of NYSC members and personnel by equipping the camp with sustainable facilities.
It is emphasized that state governments are responsible for constructing and maintaining facilities at NYSC orientation camps as per the NYSC Act. Parents and guardians are urged to remain calm as management is committed to ensuring the safety of all corps members and camp officials nationwide.
