Two buses with over 60 passengers swept into river by landslide

Rescuers search for survivors in the Trishuli River following a landslide in Simaltar, Nepal, on July 12, 2024.

A landslide swept two passenger buses carrying at least 60 people into a swollen river in central Nepal. Three survivors were found while the buses remained submerged, hindering rescue efforts due to continuous rain and murky river conditions.

Rescuers faced challenges from landslides blocking routes as additional forces were deployed to assist in rescue operations. Prime Minister Dahal expressed sadness over the incident and ongoing flood-related tragedies in Nepal.

The region has been hit hard by monsoon season, with recent landslides claiming lives, including a family of seven near Pokhara. Government agencies and local authorities are working together to respond to the disasters.
