S. Korea to use ‘StarWars’ lasers vs. N. Korea drones

Exciting news out of South Korea as the country gears up to deploy state-of-the-art drone-melting laser weapons to fend off potential threats from North Korean UAVs. The ambitious initiative, known as the “StarWars Project,” promises cutting-edge technology that is both efficient and cost-effective.

The new laser weapons, developed by Hanwha Aerospace and aptly named the “Block-I” system, boast impressive features such as being invisible, noise-free, and requiring no additional ammunition. Operating solely on electricity and costing a mere 2,000 won ($1.45) per shot, these weapons are a game-changer in the field of defense technology.

According to Lee Sang-yoon of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), the “Block-I” system will be ready for operational deployment in the South Korean military this year. With the ability to counter UAV threats efficiently and effectively, these laser weapons are set to revolutionize defense strategies in the region.
