US defense contractor Northrop Grumman has made a historic deal with Ukraine’s Ukroboronservice to jointly produce ammunition in Ukraine, marking the first time an American company will start production in the country. The agreement covers the production of medium-caliber ammunition, with Northrop Grumman providing equipment and training to set up an assembly line in Ukraine.

In addition to medium-caliber ammunition, Northrop Grumman also has plans to establish production facilities for tank ammunition and 155-millimeter shells in Ukraine. This move comes amidst Western countries providing significant military and financial aid to Kiev since the start of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine in February 2022.

The Kremlin has expressed concerns about arms deliveries to Ukraine, warning that it could further escalate the conflict. This collaboration between Northrop Grumman and Ukroboronservice represents a significant development in the defense industry and geopolitical landscape.
