Landslide sweeps 50+ bus passengers into Nepalese river

In a tragic incident in central Nepal, a landslide swept two passenger buses into a swollen river, carrying over 50 people. Rescue efforts were hampered by continuous rain and more landslides in the area. Three survivors managed to swim to safety, but the buses were presumed submerged in the fast-flowing Trishuli River. Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane reported 51 passengers missing, with over 500 rescue personnel deployed for the search operation.

Elsewhere, 17 people lost their lives and three were injured in landslides in different districts within 24 hours. The Prime Minister expressed sadness and concern over the flooding and landslides, highlighting the challenges faced during monsoon season in Nepal.

Authorities have imposed a ban on night travel for passenger buses in areas with weather warnings. The community has come together to support the survivors and aid in rescue operations, emphasizing the spirit of unity and resilience in the face of natural disasters.

This devastating event serves as a reminder of the unpredictable forces of nature and the importance of preparedness and solidarity in times of crisis.
