Kiir explains reasons for dismissing finance ministers

President Salva Kiir Fires Finance Minister in Search for Economic Reboot

South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir has justified his decision to frequently dismiss finance ministers by stating that he is seeking someone who can revive the country’s struggling economy.

Dr. Marial Dongrin Ater, the newly appointed finance minister, inherits a challenging economic situation characterized by foreign exchange shortages, a weak local currency, declining oil production, and corruption in revenue collection.

Despite criticism for his ministerial changes, President Kiir defended his actions, emphasizing the need to find a solution to the economic crisis. He instructed Dr. Ater to work diligently and swiftly to address the pressing financial issues.

Dr. Ater, who holds a PhD in Business Administration and has experience in revenue collection and banking, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the nation and vowed to implement effective measures to combat economic challenges.
