Threat Alert Issued for Anti-Encroachment Police in Karachi During Muharram
KARACHI: A threat alert has been issued for the anti-encroachment police in Karachi, warning of possible terrorist attacks during Muharram, ARY News reported on Friday.
With the onset of Muharramul Haram, DSP Tariq Islam has issued guidelines cautioning the anti-encroachment police personnel against carrying out official duties alone due to potential security threats.
The notification highlights the risk of government officials being targeted in Karachi during Muharram and advises the use of police vans for official assignments. Additionally, officials are urged to refrain from wearing uniforms and shoes while commuting back home after their duties.
The federal government has approved the deployment of armed forces nationwide to ensure security during Muharram in response to requests from authorities in various provinces and regions.
Under Article 245 of the Constitution, the Centre has authorized the deployment of army troops and civil armed forces to maintain peace, with the Ministry of Interior emphasizing that deployment decisions will be based on the evolving ground situation.
