Recently, a Nigerian delegation led by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Abubakar, met with the CEO of Indra Systema of Spain to discuss boosting the security framework within Nigeria’s airspace. The delegation discussed the integration of Dual Surveillance Systems with a Command and Control system for the military, aiming to significantly enhance airspace security.
The visit highlights the Nigerian government’s commitment to improving airspace security through advanced technologies. The collaboration with Indra is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s air traffic management and defence infrastructure, ensuring airspace safety and sovereignty.
Notable attendees at the meeting included the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, and the Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency. Plans are underway to develop a centralised Air Traffic Management system at NAMA’s headquarters to streamline civil aviation operations nationwide.
