US imposes new sanctions on Israeli settlers and groups over violence in the West Bank

The United States has announced sanctions targeting Israeli individuals and entities involved in violence in the occupied West Bank. Those sanctioned include Isachar Manne, Reut Ben Haim, Aviad Shlomo Sarid, and four illegal settlement outposts. Lehava, an extremist group, was also blacklisted.

The US State and Treasury Departments highlighted the importance of holding these individuals accountable for their actions and warned of continued measures if accountability is lacking. The sanctions freeze assets and prohibit Americans from conducting business with them.

In response, Lehava criticized the sanctions, vowing to continue their actions to protect Israeli interests. The EU had already imposed sanctions on Lehava earlier this year for attacks on Palestinians.

The surge in violence in the West Bank, exacerbated by recent conflicts, has led to numerous casualties on the Palestinian side. The ongoing expansion of illegal settlements remains a major obstacle to a peaceful resolution.
