UEFA orders FC Sarajevo to cover Srebrenica memorial in match

FC Sarajevo’s soccer players were set to wear the “Flower of Srebrenica” symbol on their jerseys in memory of the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica. However, UEFA ordered that the symbol be covered for the match against Aktobe in the Conference League.

Despite applying in time and receiving what was initially seen as approval, UEFA later changed its decision and ordered the symbol to be covered. Sarajevo believes displaying the emblem is a gesture of solidarity with the victims of genocide and a reminder that such atrocities should never be forgotten.

The team remains faithful to the memory of the Srebrenica genocide victims. The match against Aktobe takes place today in Kazakhstan, with the return leg scheduled for Sarajevo seven days later. FC Sarajevo continues to advocate for human rights and respect for the victims of crime through this symbolic gesture.
