Two homemade explosives discovered at Durban mosque

The recent discovery of homemade explosive devices at the Musjidur Rahmaan Mosque in Durban North has sparked concern for the South African Muslim Network (Samnet). The organization believes this incident could have led to a potential bomb attack, highlighting the need for increased vigilance and security measures.

According to KwaZulu-Natal spokesperson Brig Jay Naicker, unknown suspects were disrupted by a security vehicle patrol while attempting to carry out their plan. As they escaped, they threw the devices onto the mosque premises, raising alarms within the community.

Samnet chairperson, Dr. Faisal Suliman, condemned the act and called for full cooperation with law enforcement agencies to identify and apprehend the culprits. The organization fears that the suspects may have been driven by Islamophobia, emphasizing the importance of unity against terrorism and extremism.

This attempted bombing serves as a stark reminder of the threats posed by individuals seeking to sow division through fear and violence. Samnet urges the community to come forward with any information to aid in the investigation and ensure the safety of all.
