Taiwan see spike in Chinese military aircraft activity in a day

Taiwan’s defense ministry reported a record-high of 66 Chinese military aircraft circling the island within a 24-hour period, following Beijing’s military exercises near Taiwanese waters. China claims Taiwan as its territory and refuses to rule out the use of force to assert control over the democratic nation.

The previous record, set in May, saw 62 military aircraft and 27 naval vessels encircling Taiwan during Beijing’s war games following the inauguration of Taiwan’s President Lai Ching-te, whom Beijing considers a separatist threat.

Tensions further escalated as reports emerged of Chinese and Russian military exercises in the Philippine Sea, heightening confrontations with neighboring countries like the Philippines and Japan.
