Surviving Srebrenica: From Family to Nothing in 24 Hours

As the Potočari Memorial Center marks the 29th anniversary of the genocide against Bosniaks in Srebrenica, survivors gathered to honor the memories of their loved ones lost to the Serbian forces in July 1995. Jasna Tuholjkić, who buried her father and two brothers, shared the heart-wrenching experience of finding her deceased family members.

Samed Salihović, who lost three brothers in the genocide, bids farewell to his younger brother, hoping to locate and bury his other siblings as well. Nedžad Avdić, a survivor of a shooting at 17, recounts the horrific events he witnessed with another survivor.

Mirza Bašić shares his tragic journey on the Path of Death with his family, where they faced multiple ambushes and ultimately got separated, never to see each other again. These stories of loss, survival, and hope highlight the enduring pain and resilience of the survivors of the Srebrenica genocide, ensuring that the world never forgets the atrocities committed.
