SCO Deputy SG lauds Egypt’s key role in regional security

In a compelling interview, Shri Janesh Kain, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), emphasized Egypt’s pivotal role as a dialogue partner and stability provider in the Middle East within the organization. With a massive combined population of 3.5 billion, the SCO’s primary focus lies in enhancing political security, combating transnational crimes, and addressing climate change challenges.

During the Green Development Forum in Qingdao, Shandong Province, Kain highlighted the $650 billion worth of trade among member countries but acknowledged the slow progress in using national currencies for trade and investment.

The SCO, now consisting of 26 countries, works towards mutual cooperation for peace, security, and stability through the “Shanghai Spirit.” Emphasizing economic growth, societal development, and regional security, the organization actively engages in global issues and partnerships to foster international peace.

Efforts to enhance economic cooperation, environmental protection, natural reserve development, and cultural exchange are also underway, alongside initiatives to promote the use of national currencies for trade. Despite inherent challenges, the SCO is dedicated to achieving collective progress and prosperity for its member states.
