A man has been apprehended by the FSB in Adygea, Russia, for plotting an attack on an Orthodox chapel. The suspect, identified as a migrant from a Central-Asian republic, is allegedly connected to an international terrorist organization. The FSB reported that the suspect planned to target a church in Maykop, intending to harm priests and guards before setting the building ablaze.
Authorities revealed that the man had prepared improvised fire bombs, studied the site, and was in possession of extremist materials, a terrorist group flag, and a knife. It is believed that the suspect aimed to record the attack and share it online to propagate the ideologies of the terrorist organization. The individual had also planned to escape abroad after executing the assault.
