Murder suspect in Mykonos surveyor case to testify today

An ambulance and police car at the scene of the murder Tuesday morning of a 54-year-old civil engineer, who was gunned down by a unknown assailant driving a scooter outside his office in the northern Athens suburb of Psychiko.

A 44-year-old man with links to organized crime on Mykonos has been arrested for the murder of Panagiotis Stathis, a 54-year-old engineer/surveyor in Athens. The suspect is expected to testify before an investigative magistrate on Thursday.

Authorities are investigating the suspect’s connections and focusing on his mobile phones and bank accounts. Stathis was shot outside his office in Psychiko, with investigations revealing his involvement in real estate, possibly causing disturbance in certain circles.

The suspect denies the allegations against him, claiming the murder weapons and incriminating evidence have not been found. The case file suggests his involvement in homicides, kidnappings, extortion, and explosive devices.
