Empowering Needy Households with Solar Panels: KP and Sindh Government’s Initiative

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has taken a commendable step towards providing free solar panels to 100,000 needy households in the province. Advisor to the Chief Minister on Finance, Muzammil Aslam, stated that along with the solar panels, a complete setup including batteries, DC fans, and inverters will also be provided.

Furthermore, the KP government has established over 90 power plants, enabling electricity generation at Rs 6-7 per unit, as opposed to the Rs 27 per unit charged by WAPDA.

Similarly, the Sindh government, in collaboration with the World Bank, announced the provision of affordable electricity to over 200,000 households through a complete solar system for Rs. 7,000 each. The system includes solar panels, charge controllers, and batteries, allowing households to power a fan and three LED bulbs.

Both provinces are striving to alleviate the energy crisis and uplift the underprivileged communities through sustainable energy solutions.
