Israeli airstrikes hit UN building in Gaza City

Israeli forces unleashed a series of airstrikes in Gaza, targeting alleged Hamas members within a U.N. agency building. The escalation follows a review of a previous attack that resulted in at least 29 casualties in a school in Khan Yunis. The strikes continued with casualties reported in Nuseirat and Bani Suhaila.

As tensions mount, Israel issued evacuation orders in Gaza City and southern Gaza. Meanwhile, talks for a ceasefire were initiated in Qatar amidst ongoing violence since Hamas’ incursion in October. Israel claimed to target Hamas and Islamic Jihad members within a UNRWA building, though the UNRWA has denied any involvement.

The deadly strikes near schools drew condemnation from Hamas, highlighting the civilian toll, particularly on women and children. Despite Israeli military acknowledgments of civilian harm, the offensive in Gaza has resulted in thousands of casualties, while Hamas’ actions in southern Israel have also led to significant deaths.
