Government forms committee on dual-career for public sector

Welcome to Jordan News!

Amman – Minister of State for Public Sector Modernisation, Nasser Shraideh, announced the formation of a committee to study the impact of preventing dual careers for public sector employees, which came into effect on July 1st. Shraideh emphasized the government’s openness to potential changes in the HR law to protect citizens’ livelihood, a top priority for His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II.

Furthermore, Shraideh explained that the new HR bylaw and civil service regulations aim to safeguard the rights of workers appointed before the law’s enforcement. The focus is on enhancing public sector services rather than compromising employees’ livelihoods. The committee’s evaluation will consider the implications of prohibiting dual careers on staff, including the potential impact on skill development and expertise transfer to the private sector.
