Four individuals, including a former president of a human resources consulting firm, have been arrested by Tokyo police for allegedly engaging in multilevel marketing through dating apps, disregarding orders to suspend such activities last year. Arata Sakamoto, Kazuto Omori, Hiro Okudera, and Honami Morita are accused of violating laws regulating commercial transactions.
The suspects, who were prohibited from network marketing by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government between March and December 2023 due to inappropriate solicitation tactics, allegedly enticed multiple individuals into their scheme, including a Tokyo resident in his 20s. Despite the ban, they continued their activities from April to June last year.
