Baghdad condemns fresh Turkish military actions in Northern Iraq

Iraqi authorities have condemned Turkish military actions in northern Iraq, calling for a diplomatic resolution to security concerns. The National Security Council, chaired by Prime Minister Mohamed Shia Al-Sudani, discussed Turkish forces’ incursions in border areas, emphasizing the need for diplomatic engagement with Iraq.

The Turkish military has been targeting the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Iraq’s Kurdistan region, considered a “terrorist” group by Ankara and Western allies. Iraq urges Turkey to refrain from further military interventions and to address security issues through diplomatic channels.

It is essential for regional stability that countries uphold respect for each other’s sovereignty and work together to address security challenges. The Iraqi government’s stance reflects a commitment to peaceful resolution and dialogue in the face of escalating tensions.
