The Moscow court has issued an arrest warrant for exiled opposition figure Yulia Navalnaya, widow of late Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny, on charges of participating in an extremist organization. Russian authorities labeled Navalny’s activist network as “extremist” in 2021, putting employees and supporters at risk of prosecution.
If Navalnaya returns to Russia, she could face up to six years in prison. In response, Navalnaya boldly called out Vladimir Putin as a murderer and a war criminal, emphasizing that he should be held accountable in Russia, not in a comfortable international cell.
Despite previously staying out of politics, Navalnaya has pledged to continue her late husband’s work and recently mobilized crowds in protest against Putin’s re-election. Her spokeswoman hailed the court ruling as a swift recognition of their cause.
