Trump’s Machiavellian Politics: The Reality for Israel
Political analysts suggest that Benjamin Netanyahu is hoping for Trump’s return to the White House to buy time in Gaza and Lebanon. However, Trump’s influence is unlikely to change the course of the war. The dynamic of US foreign policy concerning Israel is unique, but despite Washington’s support for Israel’s war objectives, the escalation of the conflict may not align with broader US interests in the Middle East.
The ongoing Israeli war on Gaza highlights the complexities facing both Israel and the US. The Biden Administration continues to back Israel financially and militarily, despite the devastating consequences for Palestinians. Trump’s previous unwavering support for Israel during his term is unlikely to resolve Israel’s current challenges.
Netanyahu’s hopes for better treatment under a Trump presidency may be misplaced, as the US stance on Israel remains steadfast. The repercussions of blind support to Israel may have severe implications for US credibility and global standing.
