Welcome to our latest blog post discussing the key highlights from the State Audit Institution (SAI) 2023 Annual Report. With a total of 951 complaints and reports handled, SAI focused on financial and administrative violations, tender process irregularities, and abuse of authority. Sheikh Ghosn Hilal al Alawi, Chairman of SAI, submitted the report to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, with 87% of complaints thoroughly reviewed.
The report, in accordance with the law, was distributed to the Council of Ministers, State Council, and Majlis A’Shura. SAI conducted 187 inspection visits, resulting in 185 oversight reports, ultimately aiding in the implementation of corrective measures by relevant authorities. Cases of suspected criminal violations were promptly referred to the Public Prosecution.
The report delved into various government units, evaluating financial operations, tax assessment procedures, and performance evaluations of public entities. Notable was the collaboration between SAI and state institutions, fostering a culture of accountability to protect public funds and preserve national assets.
