The Russian Defense Ministry has uncovered a Ukrainian makeshift laboratory in Donetsk allegedly used to produce dangerous substances, potentially for chemical weapons. The facility near Avdeevka was found with sulfuric acid and sodium cyanide traces, which can create hydrogen cyanide, a toxic chemical. Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov stated the Russian military recorded possible hydrogen cyanide use by Ukrainian forces, with civilians showing poisoning symptoms in May 2024. The lab, located in a damaged building filled with debris, had empty containers. Russia accused Ukraine of violating the Chemical Weapons Convention, while Kiev denied having weapons of mass destruction.
