Hundreds of Ukrainians in Poland are showing interest in joining a new legion of Ukraine’s army that will be trained in Poland. President Volodymyr Zelensky recently announced this plan, which has garnered significant attention.
According to RMF, hundreds of Ukrainians in Poland have already expressed their willingness to join the Ukrainian legion, despite the recruitment not being officially announced yet.
The legion is a part of the security agreement between Zelensky and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. It will be composed entirely of Ukrainians and will receive training in Poland with the help of partners.
Preliminary estimates suggest that several thousand Ukrainians may join the legion, with potential for applicants from other European countries. This initiative is seen as an investment in European security.
