NATO should endorse Poland’s missile interception over Ukraine within political parameters

In a recent interview with Ukrinform, former commander of the missile and artillery forces of the Polish Army, Jarosław Kraszewski, suggested that the North Atlantic Alliance should consider allowing Polish air defense forces to shoot down Russian missiles over Ukraine.

Kraszewski emphasized the need for political agreement within NATO to avoid potential repercussions from Kremlin propaganda. While acknowledging NATO’s current indecisiveness on the matter at a strategic-political level, he dismissed Putin’s intimidation tactics, questioning the feasibility of a Russian attack on the West given their military setbacks in Ukraine.

Discussing the issue further, Kraszewski highlighted the importance of coordination among NATO allies, as mentioned by Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Poland, Donald Tusk, during a joint press conference with President Zelensky.

Overall, the conversation underscores the complex geopolitical dynamics at play and the evolving security challenges in the region amidst the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
