(In memory of Dr. John McDougall, a pioneer of lifestyle medicine, who taught us the importance of healthy living. Let’s honor his legacy by making healthier choices.)
Despite knowing the dangers of smoking for over 60 years, the battle against tobacco continues. Since the landmark announcement in 1964 linking smoking to deadly diseases, progress has been made. However, recent statistics show a troubling trend – smoking rates in certain demographics are on the rise.
As we reflect on the past victories in the fight against smoking, we must also recognize the importance of personal responsibility for our health. Just as we fuel our cars with the right gas, we must fuel our bodies with nutritious foods and good habits. It’s time to quit smoking, adopt a plant-based diet, and embrace an active lifestyle.
No one can make these changes for you. It’s up to each individual to take charge of their health and make choices that will add years to their life. Let’s honor the legacy of those who have fought for healthier living by making positive changes today.
