Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah reprimands officials

Karnataka’s Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed his concern over the alarming number of road accident deaths in the state, totaling over 11,000 in the previous fiscal year. During a review meeting with officials, he emphasized the importance of road safety and the need for coordinated efforts by various departments to prevent accidents and save lives.

The state reported 43,780 road accidents resulting in 11,611 deaths and 51,207 injuries between April 2023 and March 2024. Siddaramaiah highlighted the negligence of road safety committees and urged officials to take proactive measures to address the issue. He stressed the significance of providing ambulance services and trauma centers on highways to reduce fatalities and prevent families from falling into poverty.

Siddaramaiah cited success stories like the significant reduction in accidents on the Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway following interventions and serious meetings. He urged district administrations to prioritize road safety and adopt similar initiatives to mitigate accidents and save lives.

The CM’s call for enhanced road safety measures reflects a commitment to reducing road accident deaths and creating a safer environment for the people of Karnataka.
