Bengaluru’s Namma Metro is expanding with contracts awarded for feasibility studies to extend the metro to Tumakuru and construct four double-deck flyovers under Phases 3 and 3A. Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited selected Aarvee Associates Architects Engineers and Consultants Pvt Ltd for the studies. Initially planned extensions and a new line in Phase 4 include Challaghatta-Bidadi, Silk Institute-Harohalli, Bommasandra-Attibele, Madavara-Kunigal Cross, and Kalena Agrahara-Kadugodi Tree Park. The Madavara-Tumakuru extension was later included in the plans.
Aarvee Associates was awarded the Tumakuru line contract, with feasibility studies set to evaluate construction costs, traffic surveys, alignment, property acquisition, and potential land hurdles. The possibility of a Regional Rapid Transit System for longer metro station distances is being considered. Proposed metro lines await government approval, with the potential for a Detailed Project Report. Additionally, Aarvee Associates will study constructing metro/flyovers in four corridors to alleviate traffic congestion along new metro routes.
This expansion signals exciting developments for Bengaluru’s metro system, with a focus on enhancing connectivity and transportation efficiency.
