Chhattisgarh Government to Provide Housing to 47,000 Homeless Families

The Chhattisgarh BJP government has approved the provision of houses for over 47,000 homeless families identified in a survey conducted during the previous Congress regime. The decision was made during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at the Mantralaya in Nava Raipur.

A socio-economic survey conducted by the state government identified these families as homeless last year, as they were not on the permanent wait list required for housing benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Rural. They will now be provided housing under the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana (Rural).

In addition, the cabinet approved an amendment to the Chhattisgarh Government Store Purchase Rules, moving all government departments to procure goods and services through the Government e-Marketplace portal to curb corruption in procurement.

Furthermore, a ‘Good Governance and Convergence’ department will be established to ensure effective implementation of welfare policies and good governance initiatives in the state.
