Governor of Western Equatoria State Issues Directives to Suspend Commercial Activities
The Governor of Western Equatoria State, Gen. Alfred Futuyo Karaba, recently issued directives suspending various commercial activities in the state. The orders include the suspension of timber logging, demarcation of plots of land, and the independence of Nadiangere Payam from Yambio County.
Violators of the directives will face strict penalties such as fines, imprisonment for up to six months, and confiscation of equipment. The governor did not provide specific reasons for these orders, but emphasized their importance.
Furthermore, the Governor announced the deployment of senior administrative officers to Nadiangere Payam to improve service delivery and address budgetary issues. Departments of various ministries are instructed to report to the state’s mother ministry and not Yambio County.
These orders aim to regulate commercial activities, protect the environment, and enhance governance in Western Equatoria State. Compliance with the directives is mandatory, and enforcement will be carried out by national security agencies, police, CID, and chiefs.
