US State Dept Opposes Violent Protests: What You Need to Know
The United States (US) has taken a firm stance against violent protests, echoing its support for legitimate, free expression and peaceful assembly. This position was reaffirmed by US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller during a recent press briefing.
Addressing the parallels between the May 9 protests in Pakistan and the January 6 riots in the US, Miller emphasized that the US condemns violence, vandalism, looting, and arson in any context.
Furthermore, in response to questions about strikes against TTP in Afghanistan, Miller highlighted the shared interest in combating threats to regional security, acknowledging the significant toll terrorism has taken on the Pakistani people.
He underscored the ongoing efforts to enhance regional security through collaboration with Pakistani civilian institutions and regular engagement with the Government of Pakistan.
