Turkish security forces have successfully “neutralized” two PKK terrorists in northern Iraq, as announced by Türkiye’s National Defense Ministry on Tuesday. The operation took place in the Gara region, where the terrorists were detected and dealt with accordingly.
The ministry emphasized that the Turkish armed forces are committed to conducting relentless operations to eradicate terrorism at its roots. The term “neutralize” is used by Turkish authorities to signify that the terrorists either surrendered, were killed, or captured.
Notably, terrorists often seek refuge in northern Iraq, near the Turkish border, to plan and execute attacks in Türkiye. The PKK, a designated terrorist organization by Türkiye, the US, and the EU, has been waging a violent campaign against Türkiye for nearly four decades, resulting in the tragic loss of over 40,000 lives, including innocent women, children, and infants.
